Journal of the Latin American Researchers of Ontario (LARO)
Call for Written and visual Contributions
Latin American Encounters (LAE), the Journal of Latin American Researchers of Ontario (LARO), invites interested individuals to submit written and visual contributions for its fall 2012 publication.
LAE's editorial board is accepting unpublished articles, essays, photo-essays, research/fieldwork reports, and book reviews that can generate dialogue on issues that affect and shape the lives of Latin Americans in Canada.
The journal's main purpose is to explore the formation of Latin-Canadian identities and build the foundations for a systematic understanding of the social, economic, political and demographic context within which such identities form. LAE provides an interdisciplinary space for groups and individuals who are interested in the production and dissemination of knowledge that questions hierarchical relations at the local, national and global levels. LAE's editorial board is particularly interested in bilingual (English/Spanish) contributions produced by authors who define themselves and/or their work as Latin American and who engage new, critical and provocative conceptual and ethnographic/empirical approaches.
Please note that each publication will also include one piece of work that is outside the journal's focus but that deals with Latin Americans/Latin America in the world.
Please send your submissions no later than September 10, 2012 to LAE-Submissions@post.com For more information see the submission guidelines .
As a semi-academic publication, part of the material published in LAE will undergo a process of scholarly peer-review. Please state clearly if you want your paper to be part of the peer-review process.
Please note that manuscripts will be accepted with the understanding that they have not been previously published. If the material has already been published or is to be published elsewhere, the author must inform the editorial board at the time of submission.
